A beautiful full-page woodcut measuring 8.75" x 13", contains the monogram HB, and text in German on verso. In very good condition with mild discoloration. This leaf is from the book "Ein kunstrych Buch von allerley Antiquiteten, so zum Verstand der Fünff Seulen der Architectur gehörend". The book was published circa 1580 in Zürich by Chrystoffel Froschower.

Hans Blum was a German architect, engraver, and writer. After training as an architect in his native town, Hans Blum left Lohr and moved to Zurich. He is primarily known as the author of Quinque columnarum exacta descriptio atque delinaeatio cum symmetrica (c1550), a book on the five orders of architecture. He based his work on the fourth volume of Serlio’s Regole generali di architettura (Venice, 1537), a German edition of which was published in 1542.
