Who is Moses Quinby?
Moses Quinby, hailing from the state of New York, was an influential American beekeeper who is renowned as the pioneer of practical and commercial beekeeping in the country. His most notable contribution to the field of beekeeping is the invention of the bee smoker with bellows. Additionally, Quinby authored several books and numerous articles on beekeeping, aiming to encompass every aspect of the subject matter comprehensively. He endeavored to cover all facets of beekeeping, including hive management, comb removal, the functions and roles of various bee species, honey gathering and storage, breeding and nurturing of bees, and much more.
Book Condition: Very Good. Decorative green cloth with a gilt title on the spine and floral end sheets. Slight pulling on the top of the spine, light edge wear, light rubbing, and slight staining on the upper cover. The text block is tanned throughout, and the edges are slightly foxed. The book textblock is bumped on the top edge, and there is one page with a slight tear at the top edge. The pages are clean and unmarked, with the exception of the front endpaper with the owner's inscription.
