// 17 full-page illustrations, several in-text illustrations throughout

A rare printing of the 19th-century historical and biographical treatise, Lives of Celebrated American Indians. Written by Samuel Griswold Goodrich under the pseudonym Peter Parley, this historical work details the lives of historic Native American figures.

The general object of these works was to make the reader familiar with the real character and genius of that remarkable race of men and women, which, however, divided into various tribes and nations, are still of one lineage, and were the masters of the American continent - the lords of the New World.

Contents include biographical sketches of Manco Capac, Tupac Amaru, Quetzalcoatl, Montezuma I and II, Pocahontas, Tecumseh, Black Hawk, and many more.

Book Condition: Very Good. The cloth is brown with a gilt spine. The covers and spine are sunned and have shelfware. There is a decorative design embossed into their covers. The textblock edges have foxing/staining. The inner text block has foxing. The binding is secure and unmarked.
