The original red cloth is stamped with a color illustration of Alice, a fawn on the front cover, and a black title on the spine. The board covers and spine have soiling, shelf wear, bumping, frying, rubbing, and damp staining to the inner lower board. There is fraying and chipping at the head and tail of the spine. The owner's inscription is in ink on the front endpaper. The text block is cracked at the back inner hinge. Some of the pages are torn, with previous pencil markings, and one page is repaired with document tape; however, all pages are present. There is soiling and damp staining on the text block.
